"Translating European Values into Practice" - that is what we set out to do in this Erasmus+ project. The aim of this three-year project with partner organisations from Belgium, Poland and Italy was to make the topic of "European values" more accessible to young people - by using creative methods and workshop concepts.

As delighted as we were after we received the go-ahead for the project's funding, we were also in awe of being tasked with the "lead" role for such a large European project. After all, managing a three-year €350,000 project with five partner organisations from different countries that have different values and speak different languages is quite a challenge.

But it was absolutely worth it, not just because we learned a lot from a management perspective but also because of the results in terms of content and methodology.

The project website www.tevip.eu contains an impressive collection of methods, materials and very concrete workshop procedures in four languages on questions such as: what are values anyway, and which ones are important to me? Why does a society need a certain consensus on basic values? How can these be translated to the European level, and what values do we want for a common Europe? Against the background of right-wing populist movements and parties gaining strength in all parts of Europe, these questions are more relevant than ever.

We are convinced that TEVIP, with its variety of methods, offers food for thought on central aspects of a European debate on values. This has already become clear in the tests and multiplier training sessions carried out with participants from all over Europe. The materials and methods developed in the course of the project are already being put to a great variety of uses.

The European Commission, as the funding body, also gave a positive assessment of the project results: "The selected thematic complex of European values proves to be more topical than ever, and the project was convincingly implemented in this context. The project results can be gainfully applied in the practice of non-formal youth work...". Thank you very much!
